Craniosacral and Birth

Here are two pictures of my teacher, Ged Sumner giving birth! Thanks Elaine for sharing the photos with everyone in class!

It had been 5 days of intensive biodynamic craniosacral therapy workshop. And it was all about the birth process this time. This is what Ged said in our notes:

"Craniosacral therapists take a lot of interests in birth as it moulds who we are. Birth leaves an imprint. The passage down the birth canal is so profound it leaves a trail in our tissue field. It programs the psychoneuro-endocrine-immune system and quickens the life force in us to be ready for life's experiences. We all move through this in a unique way....So, in the natural order of things, we all have birth patterns. Our character as individuals is influenced by these patterns and sets up the particular orientation to the world around us. The patterning affects us on all levels: psycho-emotionally, perceptually, structurally and physiologically.

Difficulties arise when birth has been experienced as a traumatic event and the newborn's system cannot recover. The trauma energy and memory then becomes embedded within the birth patterns."

The effects of birth is not that new to me because it is also emphasized in my Metamorphosis work. But the things I learnt in my cranio class takes it a whole level further. I can hardly wait for Feb next year because that last seminar would be focused entirely on pregnant women and their babies. I wonder what we will learn then.

My class ended just this Monday afternoon. And I am still bedazzled by it all.
